Login to VMware
The login at vlab.arc.com/LabManager/Login.aspx uses your LDAP name and
password.
Workspace

Create New VM
- Go to your workspace
- Click the "New Configuration Button"
- In the new window:
- Give the VM a unique name
- Select the deployment lease
- Select the storage lease
- Select the fencing Policy
- Choose the template to create the machine from
- Give it a name
- Select if it will be a Full Clone or a linked Clone
- Leave other settings alone
- FYI multiple VMs cab added by using the "Add VM" button
- Click OK
- From here either deploy the machine and turn it on, or edit the hardware
Deploy a VM
Once a VM is deployed, it can no longer have its hardware adjusted.
You will need to undeploy the machine before you will be able to make
any new changes.
- Hover Mouse over the "Configuration Name" in the workspace window
- Select "Deploy" or "Deploy with Defaults"
- When Deploy is selected you can set fencing options,
lease options and resource pool
- The Default uses the following settings:
- Not fenced
- Power on after deployment
- Any available resource pool
- "Never Expire" for deployment lease
Once a machine is deployed you can go to the console of the VM by clicking
on the thumbnail of the desktop next to the VM's name.
Undeploy a VM
From the workspace screen:
- Hover mouse over the VM's name
- Select either "undeploy save state" or "undeploy discard state"
- Save state save the contents of RAM to a file so that when the
machine is re-deployed, it comes up in the last known state
- Discard state does not save the RAM to disk and will bring the
machine up in a clean RAM state
Delete a VM
In order to delete a VM, it must be in a power off state and undeployed.
- From the workspace window, hover the mouse over the VM's name
- Undeploy VM or select the Delete VM button
Library
How to save configuration to Library
Once you have created a configuration that you want to save and continually
make new configurations from, you can save the VM to the Library.
From the workspace screen:
- Hover mouse over VMs name
- Select "Capture Configuration to Library"
- Give the configuration a name
Creating a configuration from the Library
- Click the Library Button
- Select "Capture Configuration to Library"
- Hover mouse over name
- Select "Clone to My Workspace"
- Give it a unique name
- Click OK
